History and Company Overview
Budget Truck Rental is a top truck rental servicing company in the United States catering to both the light commercial and consumer sectors. It has a network of close to 2,000 corporate owned and dealer locations across the country. It is a subsidiary of the Avis Budget Group.
Budget Truck Rental was founded in June 1998 when Budget Group, Inc. acquired Ryder TRS, Inc. and merged it with Budget Truck Rental. Three years later, the first 700 newly designed and familiar blue trucks rolled off from the manufacturing plant to signal the company’s efforts to cater to a wider market segment.
Eventually, the bright-yellowed trucks of Ryder TRS were retired from the fleet, with the new blue trucks dominating the fleet.
In 2003, 20,000 former trucks of Ryder were re-designed and refurbished. These units were eventually re-absorbed by the rental fleet coupled with new Budget logos.
In 2006, Budget Truck Rental published a comprehensive guide to moving which were available for free at Budget Truck Rental kiosks.
In 2008, the company achieved a breakthrough when it introduced Global Positioning System (GPS) navigational devices on its trucks. It was the first consumer truck rental firm to have GPS devices on its vehicles.
The company has its headquarters in Parsippany, NJ.
Services and Equipment Offered
Budget Truck offers rental of trucks in different sizes to accommodate your moving needs.
Budget Truck Rental’s fleet is more than 27,000. Truck sizes vary from cargo van and 10-foot truck both of which has a capacity of 1-2 rooms; 16 foot truck which has a capacity of 3 to 4 rooms, and 24 foot truck with a capacity of 5 to 8 rooms.
All trucks of Budget Truck Rental are air-conditioned and come with automatic transmissions. Other driver-friendly features of its trucks are AM/FM stereos, power brakes, and power steering.
All trucks are available for one way, meaning the vehicle will pick up cargo from one location and bring it to the drop off location. Towing equipment may also be rented provided that you rent standard 16 foot and 24 foot moving trucks. The two types of truck also have loading ramp for easier loading and unloading of cargo.
All Budget truck rental units come with moving accessories like furniture pads, hand truck and towing options, assuring clients that their goods and cargo are moved safely and efficiently. Also, there is a very low likelihood that the trucks will get lost on the road because as stated earlier, Budget Truck Rental vehicles have GPS navigation. All units also have Bluetooth hands free calling feature.
Budget Truck also rents tow dollies and car carriers which can be used to transport a personal vehicle to be towed by a Budget truck.
When you rent a truck, you have to return it with the same amount of fuel that they were dispatched with. In case you fail to do that, you will be charged a fee for fueling. Usually, Budget Truck dispatches units that have full gas tanks. The company, however, won’t reimburse for the extra fuel left in the truck that you returned or used.
Gas mileage of Budget Truck units would range from 6 to 14 miles per gallon. Of course, the numbers will be affected by various factors like truck size, cargo weight, driving habits, and road conditions.
How to Make a Reservation
To make a reservation, simply visit Budget Truck Rental’s official website, www. Budgettruck.com. Or you can go directly to the reservation page by clicking on this link, https://www.budgettruck.com/resources/reservations.
It is very easy to make a reservation only. Simply choose the date that the truck will pick up your items, the pick-up location and the drop off location. Finally, choose the date that the truck will be returned to the company.
Once you have indicated all these details the browser will then refresh and show you the available trucks on the date of your move. The trucks available will also have details like size, the rental price per day, and the gas mileage.
However, keep in mind that the company does not accept requests for fuel type during the reservation process.
Once you have chosen a truck, the browser will then estimate the rental fee depending on the estimated number of miles to be covered. After that, you will be asked to select a pick-up location that is nearest you. You’ll also choose the pick-up time.
The next step would be to choose your add-ons. You have three to choose from—GPS, hand truck, and furniture pad. A furniture pad protects your furniture and other belongings from scratches, while a GPS makes navigation more accurate and thus lessen the chances of the truck getting lost. A hand truck, meanwhile, makes moving easier and faster and saves your back.
You might opt for any or all of these add-ons. Finally, you’ll be asked important details like your name and contact numbers.
You must be at least 24 years old to be able to rent a Budget Truck rental unit. In some states, Budget Truck Rental allows customers between 18 and 23 years old to rent trucks provided they can present two valid identification forms with one valid driver’s license. Likewise, they must pay an extra $25 per day underage surcharge.
Payments may be made through debit or credit card, cash, or check.
Budget Truck Rental definitely has established itself as a force to be reckoned with in the truck rental business. People looking for budget rent a truck should consider Budget Truck Rental.
