When you’re flying to a new city, you may want to consider renting a car to get around town. After all, in many cities (including the US), the public transportation system isn’t really all that great. With a rental car, you’re free to move around town at any time.
You’re probably better off just getting picking up the rental car at the airport, rather than at another location in the city. Here are some reasons why:
- It’s just easier and more convenient. Get off the plane and get in your ride, and you’re good to go. It’s already there at the airport, so you don’t have to inconvenience yourself going to another location to get your ride.
- It saves you money too. You won’t have to spend extra to get from the airport to your hotel. Nowadays, every dollar you save is a huge deal.
- It’s also much safer. In some places, there’s a definite risk of “dodgy” transports, as the Brits might say. You’re better off driving your own rental car than ride in a taxi that may be driven by a serial killer.
- Car rental companies also maintain larger fleets in the airports. That means you can probably get a car even when there’s a high demand (though you should still book in advance). You may even get the exact car model you want to drive.
Of course, there may still be some situations when it may be more advisable to pick up your rental car at another location. But in general, these situations aren’t really all that common. For most folks, it’s simply easier to just get the car from the airport and drive to the hotel. When it’s time to leave the city, drive the rental to the airport. It’s so simple.
